Egan harries the field

Galway City Harriers’ Andrew Egan ran up a superb tally at the AAI National Indoor League finals in Athlone last weekend.

He picked up wins in the 60m sprint (6.95 seconds ) and 200m sprint (21.96 seconds ) at the TUS International Arena.

The 1500m race provided one of the duels of the day with Juan Ignacio Pena of Raheny Shamrock AC just getting the better of Clonliffe’s Eoin Pierce. Pena also secured a win in the 3,000m with a time of 8:28.23.

Despite Egan’s stand-out efforts, the Galwegian runners didn’t make the podium, with Clonliffe, Ratoath and Nenagh taking team gold, silver and bronze respectively.

In the women’s team event, Dundrum, Leevale and Ratoath all won gongs.
