Loughrea businessman threatened during burglary

Gardaí in Loughrea are investigating an aggravated burglary which occurred at a business premises on Main Street, Loughrea. This burglary occurred on January 31 between 2.05am and 2.10am.

Two males entered the premises, one armed with an iron bar, and the owner of the business premises was threatened when he disturbed the two suspects. Both suspects had their faces covered up with scarfs and were wearing gloves. During the course of this incident a large quantity of iPhones were stolen.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any persons acting suspicious in the area or who may have any information to contact Loughrea Garda Station on 091-842870 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111. Gardaí are advising members of the public who witness any phones for sale in unusual circumstances to contact their local Gardaí.

Jewellery and cash stolen from a house in Gort

Gardai in Gort is investigating a burglary that occurred between 2.35pm on February 2 and 12:30am on February 3 at the Grove, Gort.

Entry was gained through a rear kitchen window and the house was ransacked. During the course of the break in jewellery and cash were taken.

Burglary of a house on Newcastle Road

A home owner returned to a house on Newcastle Road on Tuesday, January 30 at approximately 6pm to discover the rear window of the premises smashed.

They heard a number of persons inside the property who fled the area when disturbed.

Four youths observed trespassing in Doughiska

On Tuesday, January 30 at approximately 9pm, four youths were observed with torches inside a house under construction in Coill Tire in Doughiska.

Anyone who may have information in relation to this incident or who may have CCTV in the area is asked to contact Gardaí at Oranmore Garda Station on 091-388030.

Road traffic hit and run in Oranmore

Gardaí in Oranmore are investigating a hit and run incident where a motorcyclist was injured on Wednesday, January 10 between 07:35am and 07:45am.

It is reported that a dark coloured vehicle (no better description ) collided with a motorcyclist causing injury.

This incident occurred at the Carrowmoneash Roundabout, Oranmore coming from the Craughwell direction.

The driver of the dark coloured vehicle continued on around the Carrowmoneash roundabout and drove off in the direction of Claregalway, without stopping or giving any details.

Gardaí are asking for the public’s assistance in this investigation.
