Local organisation Galway Game Jam is proud to be able to bring another event to Galway this weekend. Galway Game Jam normally hosts their own events in and around the city; the end of January marks another year where the group is hosting a Jam Site in the city for Global Game Jam 2024.
Global Game Jam has run this event every year since 2009, with the intent of getting people out of their comfort zones and jumping at the opportunity to make something creative over a 48-hour time period. The challenge lights a fire underneath people who may let being “perfect” get in the way of just having fun and learning something new, as well as meeting new people who share the same passions.
What is a Game Jam? A Game Jam is a short-term event where people with many different skill sets, from art to music to computer programming to writing, can form teams and work together to make a computer, card or board game over a short period of time. The Global Game Jam will commence this weekend (Jan26-28 ) and has tens of thousands of participants from all over the globe.
“We are thrilled to able to host a Galway site once again this year thanks to generous support from Ardán and the Portershed,” says Craig Walsh, one of the volunteers with Galway Game Jam.
