Labour local election candidate, Helen Ogbu, says traffic calming measures on Renmore Road and Renmore Avenue need to be regularised.

With three primary schools nearby, the City East candidate is concerned 50kmph digital speed readers in the area do not align with new 30kmph speed limits on some of the busy neighbourhood’s main thoroughfares.

“While canvassing the area, a number of residents have expressed deep concern about speed limits and overall road safety in the neighbourhood,” she said, adding that illegal parking on pavements, within five metres of junctions, and opposite continuous white lines are other road safety issues indicated to her.

Ogbu claims these long-standing road safety concerns are fast becoming community welfare issues.
