The Knocknacarra parkrun 5k route in Cappagh Park now has permanent signage, as requested by Cllr. Niall Murphy who has welcomed the installation.

He said that the parkrun has been a fixture there at 9:30am every Saturday morning for over eight years.

“The course has more twists and turns that most run routes, so permanent signs makes weekly setup easier. It also helps raise awareness of the event and facilitates anyone who decides to run the three loop course during the week.

He said that the City Council’s Active Cities programme encourages sports for all ages and abilities for both physical and mental health.

“Events like the parkrun which is not treated as a competitive event serves exactly that purpose. I would encourage anyone who wants to walk or run 5k at their own pace to follow the course in Cappagh, or join us at this free event any Saturday morning at 9:30am beside the GAA pitches in Cappagh,” he said.
