Fifth Year students of Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill, will be performing their annual musical show next week from Thursday, January 25, to Saturday, January 27.
Continuing a proud tradition upheld by the college since 1982, the production this year is High School Musical, directed and choreographed by Rosemarie Hosty, with musical direction by Marie Kerrigan.
It tells the story of the talented teenage basketball star, Troy Bolton, played by Ailbhe Ní Mhóráin, whose world collides as he falls for the brainy new girl in school, Gabriella Montez, played by Mai Ishihara Mula, at a New Year’s Eve karaoke party.
After winter break, when Gabriella moves to East High, Troy and Gabriella reunite and decide to audition for the upcoming school musical together. Meanwhile, the envious Sharpay Evans, played by Lauren McIntyre, along with her shadow of a twin brother, Ryan Evans, played by Róisín Shaughnessy, plan to ruin their chances.
Song favourites, such as, ‘Stick to the Status Quo’ and ‘Breaking Free’ are guaranteed to get the audience singing along, with a raffle to be held during the interval.
Adult tickets €12 and students €8 from the school office.
