Diamond jubilee for Galway Film Society

On the cusp of its 60th anniversary, Galway Film Society has announced its line-up for the 2024 Spring season, and a tie-in with the Dublin International Film Festival.

On Sunday / Monday 21st & 22nd January, GFS looks forward to welcoming back its loyal audiences to Pálás for the first of its Spring 2024 season of international arthouse film screenings.

The new season of arthouse screenings begins this Sunday, January 21, to Monday, January 22 with the award-winning French romantic comedy-drama Diary of a Fleeting Affair.

Other films screening this season include Tótem, Mexican director Lila Aviles’ highly-anticipated follow-up to the hugely successful The Chambermaid. Foodies won’t want to miss the exquisite The Taste of Things, a culinary and romantic delight starring J uliette Binoche and Benoit Magimel. Irish directors Garry Keane and Stephen Gerard Kelly, meanwhile, follow up their acclaimed 2019 documentary Gaza with the extraordinary In The Shadow of Beirut - Ireland’s submission to the 2024 Oscars.

In February and March, GFS will team up with the Dublin International Film Festival to allow Galway audiences experience some of this year’s programme as part of the DIFF Tour. This includes two highlights from DIFF’s feature line-up; the genre-bending Nigerian fable Mami Wata, and heart-warming French film Toni. GFS is dedicated to the promotion of short films, so is delighted to also bring a special Short Film Programme selection to Galway audiences as part of the DIFF Tour.

More details can be found on the Galway Film Society website - www.gfs.ie - or on the GFS social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram ). GFS screens at 8.00pm on Sundays and 6.30pm on Mondays.

GFS subsidised season tickets from the Pálás Cinema box office cost €60 for 8 films (€7.50 each ) until February 12,, while individual films tickets can also be purchased from Pálás.
