Crowe welcomes council’s appointment of club liaison officer

The Galway City Council is to appoint a Club Liaison Officer to liaise with the many sporting clubs throughout the city, particularly regarding pitch maintenance.

The council owns numerous green areas across the city which include pitches that are licensed to clubs on an annual basis. However clubs have been facing serious challenges in the general maintenance of pitches, particularly in close season. The problem is there is no one person in City Hall to contact directly regarding such matters.

Fianna Fáil councillor Michael J Crowe has welcomed the creation of the post of Club Liaison Officer.

“I have sought for some time an individual to be appointed who can work directly with all clubs on the many issues involved in looking after their pitch area,” he said. “As a result of this, clubs will have a direct line in to the relevant person in the Galway City Council. This position will be welcomed by all of the sporting organisations across Galway and will make life a lot easier on clubs.”
