See the best of Galway rock and indie @ The Cellar

DEEPER AT The Cellar will host its own ‘fringe music festival’ to the Galway Arts Festival next month, with gigs from the very best local indie, rock, electro, and folk-rock bands.

Xklima, the Galway based electronica project of Mark Long and Ivan Murray, will kick things off with a gig on Monday July 13. They will be followed on Wednesday 15 by folk-rockers Breakdown Rambler and the hard rocking pop of Muggar Dave.

Singer-songwriter Ultan Conlon and his band play on Thursday 16. German-Irish folk, roots, Americana singer Yngve and The Innocents play on Sunday 19 with Tuam indie rockers The Ralphs.

On Monday 20 it’s a Galway tour-de-force with a bill that features the Riot Grrl sounds of BlasterBra, led by Anna McCarthy, the Krautrock/indie stylings of the brilliant Lost Chord, led by Dave Phelan, and indie-popsters Go Panda Go.

Things take a more folk and roots turn on Tuesday 21 with A Band Called Wanda, The Bastible Cakes, and Stephen James taking to the stage followed by the gospel/folk/blues of The Followers of Otis and Peter Butler on Wednesday 22.

One of Galway’s leading and most promising bands, Disconnect 4, who have just released the excellent Modern Love EP play on Thursday 23, while Lowerstate present Efdimin on Friday 24.

Admission to all shows are free, except the Lowerstate gig. For more information contact The Cellar on 091 - 563966.
