INDIE WEEK has been taking place in Toronto, Canada, since 2004 and now the organisers are bringing a taste of the festival to Ireland from Canada Day (July 1 ) to July 4.
The Róisín Dubh will host the Galway leg of Canada Indie Week Ireland on Thursday July 2 with a line up featuring Canadian acts Latefallen, Bella Clava, and Purrr. All have played Indie Week Canada in past years and these shows will be their first in Ireland.
Irish acts will be represented too with Vesta Varro and Walter Mitty & The Realists headlining the shows.
Following their success at Indie Week Canada 2007, Vesta Varro obtained a German booking agent, Canadian management, and many more festival offers and gig opportunities. Their video for ‘Believe’ received extensive airplay on MuchMusic, Canada’s premier music cable network.
A year later Walter Mitty & The Realists followed in their footsteps. The band were invited to showcase at the prestigious Canadian Music Week festival this past March and were picked up by management by the end of the week.
Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago. For more information see www.indieweek.com and www.waltermittyandtherealists.com
