Family friendly New Year’s Eve street music event

In a move to enhance the night-time economy, Galway City Council have announced a family friendly music event for New Year’s Eve.

From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, William St, Cross St and St Nicholas Collegiate Church will come alive with live music, culminating in a family-friendly countdown at St Nicholas Collegiate Church at 8pm.

Join the community for a lively countdown, creating cherished memories for all ages. The iconic and historic bells of Nicholas Collegiate Church will chime loudly, resonating through the city’s medieval streets. This event is part of Galway City Council’s initiative to broaden and enhance the night-time economy and is designed with families in mind, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors to come together and celebrate.

The three-hour live music programme features a diverse lineup catering to all tastes, ensuring a festive atmosphere for families and friends. The lineup includes Grand Soul Station, Galway International Retro Orchestra, Paul Moran & The Resolutions, La Orquesta Kalamares, Screaming Blue Cats, and John Connelly Inc. In addition, the Bash Brothers Drumming Band will add to the festive atmosphere by providing high-energy performances throughout.

Explore Galway’s vibrant culinary scene with open restaurants, cafes, and the delightful Galway Christmas Market serving up tasty treats and beverages.

After enjoying the lively street music, join the New Year’s celebrations at Galway’s iconic bars, restaurants, and live music venues, welcoming both residents and visitors alike.

“We are thrilled to introduce the New Year’s Eve Street Music Event as a part of our pilot project to stimulate Galway’s night-time economy. This family-friendly event aims to showcase the city’s vibrancy and create a memorable experience for all,” said Galway City Council Night Time Economy Advisor, Kate Harrod.
