In Tua Nua on tour

Considered rock trail blazers for bringing Irish pipes and electronic fiddles to the mainstream, In Tua Nua play Monroe’s Live, tomorrow, Friday, December 29, at 9pm.

Founding members Leslie Dowdall, Paul Byrne, and Jack Dublin will bring their renowned fusion of modern folk and traditional Irish music, peppered with dynamic rock riffs, to the Dominick Street venue.

A heady combination of uilleann pipes, acoustic guitars and electric violins saw In Tua Nua gain international recognition forty years ago. Their experimental sound won fans at home and abroad with ten chart-topping hits during the ‘Eighties.

At the peak of their career, they shared the stage with icons such as Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Simple Minds, Eurythmics and joined U2 on the European leg of their legendary Joshua Tree tour.

Signed to the famous Island Records, their single ‘Take My Hand’ was co-written by a young Sinead O’Connor.

While the line-up has evolved over the years, the band’s identifiable Irish sound has never changed as they celebrate 40 years together this year.
