Sarsfields to play Kilkenny champions in hunt for three in-a-row

Sarsfields are set to contest this year's All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Final for the third year running. They have won their previous two finals, beating Oulart-the Ballagh(Wexford ) in 2021, in a repeat of their loss the year prior, before defeating Loughgiel Shamrocks of Antrim in 2022.

Both finals were hotly contested, and this year's showpiece is expected to be the same. Diksboro are looking to be the first Kilkenny club since St. Lachtains in 2006 to take home the crown. Their semi-final victory saw them defeat last year's runners-up Loughgiel on a score-line of 2-13 to 1-10, and the Kilkenny team will feel confident coming into this game.

Sarsfield's semi-final victory saw them their namesake from Cork, as they beat the other Sarsfields with a scoreboard that read 2-10 to 1-6. At half-time in the tie, the Galway outfit lead by a singular point, 0-7 to 0-6. A 42nd minute goal from Siobhán McGrath was quickly cancelled out by the opposition, before Clara Donohue edged the reigning champions out in front, and they held on for the win.

Captain Laura Ward said. “We know we’ve a huge challenge against Dicksboro in the final. We played them earlier on in the year, before the championship started. At that stage we’d a full outfit and they beat us seven or eight points in a challenge. They’re massive, they’re a mature team and we know they’re probably the team that’s standing out in this campaign all along."

The last time a Kilkenny team won a Camogie senior club All-Ireland, Loughgiel won their third in-a-row. This time around, a Kilkenny team will look to deny a Galway team the same feat. It is set up for hugely intriguing and entertaining encounter.

Throw-in on Sunday, December 17at 5.15pm, full coverage will be available on Galway Bay FM.
