After navigating the pandemic with random pop-up shows on Instagram, Glen Hansard is back on tour with a date set for Friday, 15 December, at Leisureland in Salthill.
Hansard’s December Christmas shows are the stuff of legend and always feature a variety of surprise guests and deep cuts. Presented by Róisín Dubh, Hansard’s Galway gig is one of five Irish performances that will close a busy “official first year” back after a long hiatus during Covid.
Hansard performs in Ireland with his long-running bandmates The Frames, as they celebrate over 30 years of making music together. Then The Swell Season reconvenes, as Hansard and Markéta Irglová tour North America as they celebrate 15 years since the movie Once.
Hansard recently released ‘Take Heart,’ a single featuring Irglová written after spending time with Ukrainian refugees in Ireland. Prior to that he joined Eddie Vedder’s band The Earthlings and was featured on the soundtrack of Flag Day with Vedder and Cat Power.
