Radio star Ollie Turner took the first step into a career in politics on Sunday night when he was added to the Fine Gael ticket for next summer’s elections to Galway County Council.

A native of Milltown, but known throughout the country for his broadcasting and acting prowess, Mr Turner joins the experienced FG ticket featuring Peter Roche and Andrew Reddington.

It is expected that if successful in May, the party view Ollie Turner as a potentially strong candidate to add to the ticket for the General Election expected in the next 14 months.

Alongside Ciaran Cannon TD, Minister Peter Burke chaired the Fine Gael Tuam LEA convention, which was held in the Angler’s Rest Hotel Headford.
