CruinnTeo offer an intensive three-week Leaving Cert Irish course (June 4 to 21, 2024 ) for students entering fifth year or sixth year in September 2024. A key aim of CruinnTeo courses is to enhance students’ understanding and knowledge of the fundamental building blocks of the Irish language. Daily classes afford students the opportunity to both reinforce and enrich their language skills – reading, spoken interaction and writing.
“My daughter found the course to be hugely beneficial and very much enjoyed learning in the friendly environment,” one parent said of the course this year.
Centrally delivered at the University of Galway, last June’s CruinnTeo course attracted students not only from the city schools, but also from Oughterard, Kinvara, Mountbellew and Headford. The location is accessible by public transport — buses and trains. The daily classes run from 10am to 1pm meaning that students were also able to keep their summer jobs.
“Great course, excellent teacher, would definitely recommend to others,” one of the 2023 students commented.
In total the course entails 42 hours of tuition, which is equivalent to approximately half a year of school-time classes. This represents an excellent opportunity for those whose Irish may be a little rusty after transition year, as well as for those who need improve their written and oral language skills.
“CruinnTeo is an extremely helpful course," another parent said. "My daughter really enjoyed it and learned a lot.”
A key aim of CruinnTeo courses is to enhance students’ understanding and knowledge of the fundamental building blocks of the language. On completion of the course, students’ improved skills and increased confidence will help them construct their own answers and not be overly reliant on rote learning.
“I found the course to be very beneficial to my Irish," a student said of this year's course. "We focused on oral work and grammar and constructing sentences in Irish. I gained a real understanding of the language and its rules. Everyone in the class progressed so much throughout the course.”
A comprehensive, detailed course handbook, authored by Gráinne Keleghan, is provided to all students. Additional information regarding fees, reservations, etc is available at www.cruinnteo.com, email [email protected].
