Thieves target van on Monivea Road

A red Peugeot Partner van was damaged by thieves while parked on the Monivea Road earlier this month.

This happened between Between 11pm on Sunday October 15 and 9am on Monday October 16. The van’s hub caps were stolen during the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed this or with any other information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000.

Scooter stolen in Ballybane

Gardai are appealing for information following the theft of a scooter from outside a house at Beechwood Park, Ballybane last weekend.

The LOCO Motion Pro scooter was stolen between 7pm on Saturday October 21 and 11.40pm on Sunday October 22. This scooter is lime green in colour with a black base and handlebars. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this theft, or who may have been offered this item for sale, to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000.

Criminal damage at Galway City Museum

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following an act of criminal damage at Galway City Museum this month. A display on the side of the museum was damaged by grafitti.

This occurred at some point between Friday October 13 and Friday October 20. Gardai are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any other information, to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000.

House targeted in Doughiska

Gardai have appealed for information on an incident in which the window of a house in Doughiska was smashed.

This occurred at An Sean Bhaile, Doughiska at around 3am on Thursday October 19. Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious people or vehicles in the area is asked to contact Oranmore Garda Station on 091 388030.

Burglary in Newcastle

A shed at the rear of a house in Laurel Park, Newcastle was broken into last week.

This occurred between 12 noon on Wednesday October 18 and 7am on Thursday October 19. During the course of this burglary a bike and a lawnmower were stolen. Anyone who may have witnessed any suspect people or vehicles in the area is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Witnesses sought to Rahoon road accident

Gardaí are appealing for assistance in relation to a serious road traffic accident which occurred in Rahoon last week.

This accident took place on Monday October 16 at approximately 7.45am. The accident occurred on the hill from the Letteragh Road down towards the Westside pitches and involved a pedal cyclist and a white van.

Gardaí area appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this accident, or who was in the area and may have dashcam footage, to contact Galway Garda Station on 091 538000 or the Galway Roads Policing Unit on 091 337247.

Traffic diversions and delays this weekend

The Macnas parade will take place in Galway city this Sunday at 5.30pm, and a number of traffic diversions will be in place on the day.

Rolling road closures will commence at approximately 5.15pm on University Road and around the city centre.

There will be restricted parking along some of the route. Motorists are advised to avoid the city centre and take alternative routes as large crowds will be expected which will cause delays.

The County Hurling Final will also take place on Sunday, with throw-in at Pearse Stadium at 2pm. Slight delays in traffic are expected before and after the match, and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible around this time.
