Galway collective Baile an Salsa will bring their furious fusion of latin rhythms and traditional Irish tunes to Monroes on Saturday, October 14, at 9pm.
The acclaimed salsa-trad band are an international mix of world class musicians, combining influences from Latin America, Europe, and the United States.
Featuring founder Andres Martorell, Alan Preims, Benjamin Becerra, Brendan McCreanor, Ger Chambers, Frailan Moran, Michael Chang, Rags Ferguson, Colm Naughton and AnnaLisa Monticelli, Baile an Salsa embrace their multicultural roots to create a rich and dynamic sound.
With rousing lyrics sung in English, Spanish and Irish by vocalist Andres Martorell, the group transcend boundaries, developing a contemporary twist on traditional tunes alongside original compositions.
Their self-titled debut EP was warmly received in many countries as they quickly gained popularity at home and abroad. Since then, they’ve performed at prestigious festivals worldwide, appeared on the Late Late Show and were subject of a TG4 documentary.
“We have a unique fusion of music styles and, as such, appeal to audiences from all backgrounds,” explains Andres. “By combining diverse rhythms with the vibrant essence of Irish traditional music, we deliver a truly unique experience for live music enthusiasts, creating an exceptional and captivating show.”
Galway holds a special place for the group as they first came together in the city over a decade ago. “We are really looking forward to reuniting with all our fans in Galway,” says Andres. “Monroe’s gigs are always so special! The audience can expect to dance a lot in any style they want in what will be a very energetic and lively show.”
