Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival, which is produced by Milestone Inventive was awarded Best Food Festival at Irish Travel Trade Network Travel2ireland awards at a glitzy ceremony in Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel.
Presented by MC and award-winning travel writer Fionn Davenport and sponsored by Hertz Car Rental, the Travel2Ireland awards are designed to reward companies that excelled in the travel arena here in Ireland.
Founded in 1954, the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival will celebrate its 70th birthday in 2024, which will also mark the 10th year that Galway based creative production company Milestone Inventive has produced the event.
During that time this iconic event has received many accolades from the international food and travel media, for example the Rough Guide has included it in their 50 Things To Do Before You Die list. But besides being a bucket list experience, the festival is of significant economic importance to Galway as it attracts thousands of local and international visitors and promotes Galway as a tourist and gastronomic destination all year round.
Milestone Inventive Managing Director, Maria Moynihan Lee welcomed the awards.
“What a way to kick off our 70th anniversary year. This is a credit to the founders and custodians of the festival over the past 70 years and in particular to the team that has built it back up into the tremendous attraction that it has once again become in the past 10 years.
"Our hotel and restaurant partners have maintained their steadfast support through all of this time and we could not do it without them.”
