Independent Councillor Terry O’Flaherty has praised the ‘trojan work’ carried out by people working on the Renmore Community Employment Scheme in keeping so much of the area in pristine condition.
St Oliver’s Church was singled out for favourable mention in this year’s Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL ) survey, which praised the church grounds for “a complete absence of litter”, adding that they were “very well maintained, with plenty of planting throughout”.
“The CE Scheme carries out most of the works on the church grounds. They do a great job and it’s great to see that this area has been singled out in the IBAL litter survey report,” said Cllr O’Flaherty
“As well as maintaining the grounds around the church they also plant and maintain all of the flower beds which are many, the upkeep of the local parks, hedges, flowers and shrub beds, clearing the weeds in laneways and along the Ballyloughane Road from the bridge to the beach, keeping Renmore in such beautiful condition all year round.
“Other works include the maintenance of the three local sports clubs and pitches, including those of Liam Mellows GAA, Renmore GAA and Renmore AFC.
“They richly deserve and receive great credit and appreciation and support from the residents in Renmore,” added Cllr O’Flaherty.
