Portwest CEO to address British and Irish Trading Alliance event next week

The British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA ) will host Harry Hughes, CEO of Portwest as keynote speaker to their networking lunch being hosted in Westport Plaza Hotel on September 29 from 11:30am.

The alliance is a non-profit business networking organisation that works with businesses in Ireland and the UK to promote growth and trade between both nations. They have three chapters in Ireland; Ireland West, Cork, and Dublin, in addition to 15 across the UK, with a mission to help more people and influence further, as a collective.

They operate by offering business support including HR and Health and Safety, as well as promotional opportunities through their social media, magazine, and newsletters, in addition to hosting friendly and relaxed business networking events with business owners, decision makers and business leaders, across both nations. The lunch on September 29 will be their second Ireland West Networking Lunch held this year, and first with Portwest CEO Harry Hughes.

Founded in 1904, Portwest is an industry leader specialising in fire resistant and high visibility workwear, PPE and more. They are one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world and Harry Hughes is the CEO, running a business with bases in Ireland, the UK, Poland, Dubai, Australia, and the USA.

Having recently won the Circular Economy Award in the Business & Finance ESG Awards, BITA will be welcoming Harry as keynote to talk about his plans for the business, and his insights and advice for building a sustainable business incorporating the circular, or even cradle to cradle, ethos.

The Ireland West chapter of BITA was founded in 2021 and has hosted a range of events including over the Jazz weekend in 2022, evening social networking events, and business networking lunches.

The lunch on September 29 is the first time the Ireland West chapter has hosted an event outside of Galway city, and they are looking forward to meeting the excellent businesses in the greater west of Ireland region.

Members and non-members are welcome to attend this event. Visit bita.ie for more details.
