Galway Youth Orchestra embarks on its 41st season

The Galway Youth Orchestra is set to begin its 41st season of rehearsals and concerts, commencing with auditions scheduled for Saturday, September 9, from 10am to 12 noon at Colaiste na Coiribe, Bothar Baile Burca, Ballymoneen Road, Galway.

Auditions are open to aspiring musicians aged seven to 19, who play the violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, brass instruments, or percussion.

Galway Youth Orchestra offers three distinct ensemble levels: junior, intermediate, and senior, designed to cater to students starting from Grade 1 or possessing equivalent proficiency. Basic music reading skills are required for the junior-level orchestra.

Rehearsals will commence at Colaiste na Coiribe on Saturday, September 16, from 10am to 12 noon. Galway Youth Orchestra is delighted to welcome back its exceptional trio of conductors, Michael Dooley, Joanne Cater, and Ingrid Nicola. These three accomplished musicians have consistently led the orchestras to deliver outstanding musical performances throughout the years. The orchestras eagerly anticipate the addition of many talented young musicians to their ranks, as they continue a tradition of creating exceptional music together.
