Dominican College in Taylor's Hill have commended the resilience and performance of their 2023 Leaving Cert pupils which they said enable them to plan their next stage of education and ultimately the world of work.
The class secured excellent results, despite having not previously undertaken a formal State exam, as they were in either Second or Third Year during the first lockdown and closure of schools.
Principal, Cian O Doherty said that after chatting to the students, they feel relieved and happy that their hard work has paid off.
"They were excited to return to school on that results Friday to meet their teachers and share their results. More than 12 subjects recorded results well over the national averages and the school continues to perform at an elite level academically while continuing to cater for all levels of ability.
"All students received their results on the online portal at 10am on Friday and we invited them to the school that afternoon."
He said that one student achieved eight H1 grades this year, one of very few in the country to do so. Over a fifth of the class of students achieved more than 550 CAO points with several scoring the maximum 625 points, each of which is well above the national average.
"Taylor's Hill actively encourages our girls' involvement in STEM subjects and is one of the only all girls' schools to offer Computer Science as a Leaving Certificate exam subject. 85% of students achieved either a H1 or H2 grade this year which is nearly double the national average at this level.
"It was also one of very few girls' schools to offer Physical Education as a Leaving Certificate exam subject with the first group beginning Fifth Year this week," he added.
Mr O Doherty wished all of the Leaving Cert students the very best of luck in their future endeavours, adding they were a credit to the school.
