A Modern Wave of Americana Folk with the Yonder Boys at Monroe’s Live

The Yonder Boys are an intriguing blend of Americana, rooted in traditional folk instruments with a diverse array of influences that breathe new life into the genre.

This Berlin based trio are a fusion of international influences, spanning Chile, Australia and the USA, with a dash of bohemia from their adopted European home.

As a result, their music is a fascinating blend of traditional old-time Americana, rock, Latin and Celtic rhythms, pop sensibilities, and a touch of psychedelia.

Now, they will bring their timeless yet fresh take on bluegrass and country to the Monroe’s Live stage on Saturday, September 9 from 7:30pm.

Together, this trio break through any formulaic concept of country with their genre jumping sound, instilling their diverse range of international experience into their repertoire.

This eclectic mix creates a body of work that is both familiar and refreshingly unique, making the Yonder Boys stand out in the world of modern folk.

With this innovative approach, the Yonder Boys continue to push the boundaries of folk and bluegrass, widening their appeal to those who don’t typically opt for old-time music peppered with banjo and guitar.

Their three-part harmonies are reminiscent of The Beach Boys, bringing that California flavour to their work.

With changing tempos, intricate fingerstyle guitar and rock infused beats, they are anything but predictable.

At the heart of the band are the captivating harmonies of Jason Serious from the USA, on vocals and guitar and David Stewart Ingleton from Australia, on vocals and banjo.

These talented singer-songwriters have also earned their stripes as live performers, sharing the stage with luminaries like Billy Bragg, The Wood Brothers, Timber Timbre, Other Lives, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

Together, their voices create a rich melodic sound, and their stage presence and musicianship have won over audiences around the world.

Adding another layer of depth to the Yonder Boys is multi-instrumentalist Tomás Peralta from Chile.

Switching from vocals, mandolin, banjo, and bass, Peralta brings a dynamic range of textures to the group's music.

Their debut album, Acid Folk, garnered critical acclaim and international airplay from the BBC to MTV Australia.

It's a testament to the Yonder Boys' ability to develop music that both resonates and transcends the realm of traditional folk.

Writing lyrics that can vary from the abstract to the cynical, descriptive to melancholic, this band will take you on a journey through the power and raw energy of modern bluegrass.
