Emerging Irish band The Fynches are set to soar at Monroe’s Live

Fresh from supporting renowned Irish acts The Coronas and The Stunning, emerging band The Fynches are soaring, fuelled by their mutual love of music. They will bring their fresh and original work to Monroe’s Live on Saturday, September 16.

Inspired by the likes of Crosby, Stills and Nash and The Kinks, The Fynches are speckled with ‘60s influences, offering a snapshot into the past in a contemporary way, with formidable performances easily described as energetic, psychedelic and ecstatic.

While relatively new on the music scene, this promising act began over a decade ago, with young musician and actor Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and the renowned session guitarist Josh Hackett.

As a busking duo, they paid homage to the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and Lennon and McCartney.

Ferdia also pursued his acting career, making his film debut as the lead actor in the film Sing Street. He has since appeared in Here Are the Young Men and CODA.

Once they met drummer Cam Teehan, a fusion sparked, and they are joined by Ferdia’s older brother, Oisín, of the Villagers and Hudson Taylor fame.

Offering tight harmonies and soaring strings, their work embodies classic sensibilities with a modern flair. The Fynches incorporate their passion for country and blues into their melodic anthems.

After years of writing and recording, the band honed their sound, describing how they “tweaked and twisted until they were just right”.

Having released their debut double single Absent Words to critical acclaim, they rose to prominence as they secured a coveted spot on The Late Late Show.

Their success continued, selling out their first ever headline show at Sin E? in Dublin.

Earlier this year, they brought out their second release, titled Glow, There Always Will be Shade.

For the band it was “a long time coming” as they bring their wealth of experience to this new work, which was recorded in their home studio, and embraces elements of classic and psychedelic rock.

Don’t miss your chance to catch The Fynches at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, September 16 at their Backstage venue from 9pm. Tickets cost €13 and are available from monroes.ie
