Taekwon-do instructor Shane Fitzgibbon and his student Shane Rabbitte were on the podium at the recent rITF European Championships in Croatia.
Shane Rabbitte took bronze in the junior -63Kg sparring division after making it through to the semi-finals following some tough bouts. Fitzgibbon took bronze in the 5th dan patterns division, and silver in the sparring.It was a great result for Fitzgibbon, who having suffered an abdominal muscle injury three weeks prior to the competition, missed making the weight for his normal -80kg division. As a result he moved up to +80kg in which he won three pulsating bouts against bigger opponents, before losing in the final by a narrow margin to claim silver.
