Celebrate Galway’s remarkable women at Heritage Week event this weekend

A public discussion and walking tour taking place in Galway this weekend will explore the role of women in local heritage.

The event, Celebrating Women in Local Heritage, is organised by Galway Civic Trust as part of National Heritage Week.

This open discussion, chaired by Mary Pereira, will take place at the Galway Civic Trust office in Druid’s Lane from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday. This event will tackle topics such as the significance of women’s contributions to Irish heritage, and the importance of celebrating women’s heritage in Galway.

The discussion will be followed by HerStory, a walking tour of Galway hosted by local tour guide Marteen Lane. The tour, which is free and open to all participants in the morning discussion, will begin at the Hall of the Red Earl on Druid Lane, and features some of the remarkable women associated with Galway city.
