Gort housing development ticks all the boxes for modern living and working

Gort Homes Developments Ltd., a Coen family venture, is developing plans for a large-scale housing project on the outskirts of Gort town which will provide spacious new homes with all the conveniences of modern living.

Situated just a stone’s throw from the town centre, this diverse mixed-use development is proposed for the Loughrea Road, with pedestrian and cycling access routes to the busy railway station and into the core of the town.

This prestigious development for Gort includes approximately 230 housing units from houses to apartments to senior living accommodation.

Describing the benefits the development will bring to the town, Gort native David Coen Jr, said he is excited to be progressing this much-needed housing and retail development for his home town.

“We have worked closely with Darmody Architecture to ensure the development will enhance all of the town’s best qualities and build on its reputation as a great place to live and do work.

“The mature landscaping and green spaces will give the feeling of country living, while the retail element will provide convenience, complimentary to the town’s thriving commercial offering.

“We thought it was important to ensure there was a co-working hub to provide a shared office space with modern amenities for people wishing to work in a professional environment and without a daily commute.

“For people travelling to offices, Gort is ideally situated as a commuter town for Galway and Limerick, and this development offers an exciting prospect for people wishing to continue living in Gort or relocate to a thriving town.

“Located adjacent to the busy railway, and with the motorway on our doorstep, this development offers an exciting opportunity for people to enjoy an enhanced quality of life away from the expense and stress of the bigger cities,” David added.

The proposed housing scheme includes a diverse mix of quality residential accommodation, senior living accommodation with associated amenity facilities, a modern creche facility, an indoor activity centre, a co-working hub, a public plaza with appropriate retail facilities, cycle and pedestrian connectivity to the adjacent railway station and into the heart of the town, and the development will be landscaped with historic mature trees.

A planning application is due to be submitted to Galway County Council in the coming weeks and anyone wishing to view the plans can do so on the council’s website.

The proposed development is a sustainable project consistent with policies and objectives contained in the Galway County Development Plan and is a response to the Government’s Housing for All policy and is in line with rural development policies.
