“We all grew up listening to rock music and Metallica had a huge impact on all of us individually growing up,” explains Martyn, “with the heavy and thrash metal sound of their earlier albums along with their beautiful clean sounds, interludes, epic song structures and arrangements, and with the well written lyrics, it blew us away.”
With years of touring throughout Ireland, Whiplash have made their mark on the music scene, delivering the high-intensity and thrill of a professional Metallica show. Together, their ability to capture the essence of Metallica's performances demonstrates their exceptional musicianship and attention to detail. Every chord, riff, and drumbeat resonates with authenticity.
“It was easy to fall in love with their music,” continues Martyn, “and it really motivated us and shaped us into the musicians we are today. Their live shows are some of the best shows in the world.
“The fact that after more than 40 years later they still bring out albums with great songs, and constantly tour around the world, is testament to the type of band Metallica are, and the influence they have on people all around the world, including us.”
For Metallica devotees and newcomers alike, witnessing Whiplash at Monroe’s Live is an opportunity to get as close as possible to the exhilaration of a genuine Metallica concert.
“The audience can expect a rockin’ professional Metallica tribute full of energy and old school classics, as well as some more recent songs also, including one or two from their new album released this year, explains Martyn.
“They can expect great stage presence. The songs to be played as close to the originals as is possible, with the live sound and vibe Metallica are known for.
“We all love Metallica, and what we do, and that comes across in our shows. There is always great interaction between the crowd and ourselves. And there will be plenty of singing and head banging on the night guaranteed.”
