Open now for more than a year, Cava, the stylish Spanish restaurant and tapas bar on Dominick Street has established itself as one of Galway’s finest eateries. With relaxed yet formal dining, Cava offers an opportunity to experience the culinary depth of Spanish cooking without having to hop on a plane.
Serving more than 50 authentic tapas drawn from all regions of the Iberian Peninsula, Cava serves classic Spanish tapas, such as patatas bravas (cubed fried potatoes with spicy paprika ), tortilla (Spanish potato omelette ), riojana (pan fried chorizo and potatoes in Rioja wine ), and calamares (deep fried fresh squid ). For the more adventurous, a host of lesser know tapas are available such as fennel cured salmon, mojama (salted tuna ), ox tongue, and lamb’s heart. Children are well catered for with Spanish meatballs and marinated chicken skewers.
The restaurant serves dinner from 6pm to 10.30pm with a full á-la-carte menu showcasing the best of contemporary Spanish cuisine. Lunch is served from 12.30pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with specials including the traditional bocadillo (Spanish sandwich ), and Cava’s seafood paella with a glass of wine for only €15.
Over the weekend Cava serves brunch, which includes both the full Irish and the full Spanish, a wide range of egg dishes, and other hot food and salads.
With a new summer dessert menu coming soon Cava keeps changing things to offer more diversity and stimulation.
