Stomptown Brass are back in Galway in a highly anticipated return to the city at Monroe’s Live on Dominick Street.
Their raucous blend of urban street funk, delivered with the power of brass, is set to ignite the venue on Friday, July 28 as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.
With two drummers, two trombones, two trumpets, one saxophone and one tuba, this dynamic group play a host of original songs crafted by trombonist James O’Leary.
Their bluesy vocals, disco beats, dark grooves and minimalist rhythms set this band apart, as they completely reimagine the tradition of brass bands, bringing a contemporary flair.

Now, they are set to bring their New Orleans style showmanship to a Galway audience at the award-winning Monroe’s Live venue.
This electrifying collective have gained a solid reputation for their high-octane shows, as their fusion of jazz, funk and brass provides a musical whirlwind of sound.
Whether they are performing their original compositions or putting their unique spin on covers, Stomptown Brass delivers an unforgettable experience that combines virtuosity and a genuine love for music.

With Robert Grant on trumpet and lead vocals, Liam Ryan on trumpet, Luke Byrne on sax and vocals, Finnian Kelly on trombone, James O’Leary on trombone and vocals, Brian Larkin on tuba and vocals and Brendan Doherty and Darragh McGrath on drums, it’s set to be a night of swing time street party antics right in the heart of Galway.
On the night, they will be supported by dynamic Dublin sister duo Zeztra, who have toured with R n’ B star Maverick Sabre across the UK and New York.
These rising independent stars craft original music, combining modern alt pop anthems with an element of ‘80s inspiration.
Their new song, ‘Dancing Freely’, presents a fresh new sound for Avril and Lorna Meade as they delve into themes of LGBTQ+, love and acceptance with this discofied empowerment track.
Co-produced by Damien Dempsey and John Reynolds, it’s another step for the band who have supported the likes of HamSandwich, A Lazarus Soul and Saint Sister.
