Fresh from releasing her latest track ‘Blue is the Colour of Lonesome’ from her upcoming album titled ‘If Tomorrow’, internationally renowned flautist and singer, Steph Geremia will join an elite band of folk musicians at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, July 29 as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.
The acclaimed multi-instrumentalist is one of the finest traditional musicians of her generation. She is perhaps best known for her vibrant and versatile flute playing and as a mainstay of the critically acclaimed group, the Alan Kelly Gang.
Not only has she performed at multiple festivals and venues across the globe, collaborating with the likes of Eddi Reader and touring with The Chieftains, Steph Geremia has also worked with artists from The Walls, The Sharon Shannon band and Lúnasa.
While she is best known for her proficiency on the flute and whistle, she is also a talented singer and songwriter, and her latest work represents an exciting new chapter with the release of her first solo album fully dedicated to song.
Her gentle yet powerful voice resonates with authenticity, and her original compositions reflect her deep connection to the roots of Irish music, while incorporating contemporary elements.
With a distinct Celtic vocal style that combines a hint of her American roots, the New York born and raised artist brings a wealth of musical scholarship to the stage.

Her dedication is such that she also spent time studying the North Indian flute instrument - the Bansuri - in India, before settling in Sligo to immerse herself in the Sligo/Roscommon style of flute playing, inspired by stalwarts such as Peter Horan.
On the night, Steph will be joined by Scotland’s award-winning guitarist and vocalist, Kris Drever, piano accordion maestro, Alan Kelly and bouzouki powerhouse, Aaron Jones to deliver enchanting songs from the Irish, folk and Americana traditions.
