Former county minor manager Ned Burns is co-ordinating a three-day football camp at St Jarlath’s College, Tuam next Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 1.30 am each day.
What is somewhat different about this camp is that Burns has assembled a host of current inter-county stars to help out and instruct the participants in the key skills of Gaelic football over the three days.
Players such as current Galway captain Damien Burke, Diarmuid Blake, Gary Sice, Darren Mullahy, Alan Burke, Nicky Joyce, Mayo’s Conor Mortimer and Aidan Kilcoyne, James Kavanagh (who scored 1-03 and got man-of-the-match last weekend for Kildare ), and Michael Finneran (Roscommon ) are all lined up to attend.
According to Burns the course, which will be run along similar lines as a mini-school of excellence, will “provide young players aged 12-15 years of age a unique opportunity to develop all the skills to become a complete player by learning the major skills from top class players and coaches”.
The course will cover 10 different modules of skills – including forward play, kicking, fielding, defending, flexibility, strength, nutrition, and speed, agility, quickness.
Registration will commence at 10am on Monday and the entry fee is €50 for the three days.
