MKO, Ireland’s largest planning and environmental consultancy, has announced the appointment of four directors as the company continues expanding its capacity and capability to meet client and industry requirements.
The new directors are Colm Ryan, John Hynes, Michael Watson and Regina Madden, who join existing and founding directors Brian Keville and Gus McCarthy.
MKO employs over 180 people nationwide and has offices in Galway and Dublin, working across the planning, environmental, ecology and related fields. Most recently, the company has added new Project Communications and Health and Safety service offerings along with expanding its GIS, Project Management, Land Agent and Landscape and Visual offerings. The company prides itself on its multi-disciplinary service offerings and a broad range of nationwide experience.
Speaking on the appointment of the four directors, Brian Keville, Managing Director, said the appointment of additional company directors is part of MKO’s long-term growth strategy and acknowledges the significant efforts Colm, John, Michael, and Regina have made to the success of MKO in recent years and recognises the contribution they will make to the business in years to come.”

The four new directors have been integral to the company’s management team for many years and have been instrumental in the company’s continued development, growth, and expansion.
Colm Ryan is appointed Director. He joined MKO in 2017 and has over 18 years of experience as a Chartered Town and Regional Planner. Colm’s expertise includes housing, renewables, commercial and marine spatial planning. Colm is a corporate member of the Irish Planning Institute.
John Hynes is appointed Director. He joined MKO in 2014 and has over 12 years of post-graduate experience in the public and private sectors. John is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM ) and holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and an M.Sc. in Applied Ecology.
Michael Watson is appointed Director. He joined MKO in 2014 and has over 20 years of experience in environmental consultancy, providing key strategic advice and technical expertise on complex projects requiring environmental impact assessments. Michael is a Chartered Environmentalist, full member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA ) and Professional Geologist (PGeo ).
Regina Madden is appointed Director. She joined MKO in 2016 and since then has grown the Operations team overseeing Finance, Administration, People and Culture, Marketing and IT. Regina is a Chartered Accountant with over 17 years of accounting, finance, and operations experience.
