Obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA ) can often be a costly endeavour, and many aspiring professionals may find it challenging to follow their dreams to pursue an MBA, purely on account of the financial element, despite knowing the huge return on investment and gains to be received, when one completes an MBA degree.

However, the University of Galway has a generous variety of scholarships available, offering exceptional candidates the opportunity to pursue an MBA with up to a staggering 50 per cent funding - never before has this iconic MBA programme been more achievable and attractive.

This article explores the value of the University of Galway MBA scholarships, benefits of completing the esteemed MBA programme, while also divulging real-life, first-hand insight into the University of Galway MBA programme through the experience of one of its MBA graduates, Suzanne Ryan.

Suzanne, like so many of the University of Galway MBA alumni, used her MBA to enable her to scale her career to dizzying heights, powerful leadership positions, and also gain all the multi-beneficial strengths and qualities that help beyond career, but also in your personal life.

"Looking back, I was destined to see that double page feature in the Galway Advertiser back in 2010," Suzanne said. "It talked about the MBA at the University of Galway, then National University of Ireland, Galway. I saw a potential path or way forward for me. I wasn't, in my eyes, your 'typical MBA student', having mainly worked in the family business while also raising five young children who ranged at the time from three to 11 years old. For me, I was unsure as I already had a Master’s degree and didn't know what difference it would make to me; but, how wrong I was.

"I have never, ever looked back from taking that step to applying and finishing two years later with first class honours. The MBA came for me at a time when most women can struggle, in particular with identity, even confidence, when focused on raising children. I felt it was necessary for me to become relevant again; to learn from experts to help me to get back formally into the workforce. The MBA was a massive enabler for me, and it empowered me to never look back. It taught me skills of grit, resilience and tenacity while also assisting me to form connections within the academic and business communities which helped me to fully pivot my career.

"The exposure to current best practice, innovative thinking, rigorous analysis and contemporary cases with peer-to-peer learning and support will ensure that you're top of your game coming out. It's not easy; it's a massive test of balancing all of the hats that you wear, especially while working and raising a young family but nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. My career, impact, legacy have all benefitted from that chance browse of the Galway Advertiser that Thursday.

"Apply today, like me, you'll never look back.”
