Sizzling summer and autumn shows at Town Hall Theatre

There’s a brand new season brochure in town, and it’s jam packed full of fantastic events. Town Hall Theatre audiences will be spoilt for choice in the weeks and months ahead with the sizzling line-up just announced for July, August and September, featuring many leading names in local, national and international theatre, music, comedy, dance and film. You’ll find more information on the summer/autumn programme, including details of the Galway Film Fleadh (July 11-16 ) and Galway International Arts Festival (July 17-30 ) published in the new brochure available to download from tht.ie or from the venue 091-569777. Tickets for all performances, screenings and events are now on sale.

Theatre highlights include Druid Theatre Company with DruidO’Casey and Baxter Theatre Centre/Dussedlorfer Schauspielhaus with Life & Times of Michael K and a selection of superb productions by Aidan Dooley, Seamus O’Rourke, Michael Patric, Paddy Cullivan and SamePage Theatre Company.

The Town Hall Theatre team are delighted to welcome Teac Damsa back to Galway, this time with their co-production with the Gate Theatre of Michael Keegan-Dolan’s critically acclaimed How To Be A Dance In Seventy-Two Thousand Easy Lessons.

The new season includdes fantastic musicals from Twin Productions with Aladdin Jnr for all the family, Bravo Theatre Group with Calendar Girls and a very special Playboy of The Western World – The Musical fundraiser for Pete Nelson.

A varied music programme at the Town Hall includes performances by A Capella Knights, Eddi Reader & Alan Kelly Gang, Made in Tennessee country night, and Chris Kavanagh singing Luke Kelly and audiences can also look forward to music from Aimee Banks in concert on Culture Night; the very beautiful South, Always South (the story of Ernest Shackleton’s life ) featuring Kildare County Orchestra; and Flight an exciting new Opera from Opera Collective Ireland in association with the Irish Chamber Orchestra.

Other highlights include the very special spoken word event presented by Poetry Ireland/SoFFT Productions and featuring Danez Smith, Hollie McNish and SIOMHA, and special film events by each of LittleJohn Nee and Little Cinema/Galway City of Film.

Comedy from Bridesmaids, Anne Gildea, Fred Cooke, Peter Mc Gann and An Night at the Theatre With Groucho Marx by Dave Young should make you chuckle and Bingo Loco at the Black Box will make your heart race – as might Dreamboys in the Town Hall on the same night!

And for the kids and teenagers, don’t miss the very special song writing and percussion workshops at the Black Box by musician and composer Jesse Kennedy and U2 drum tech Sam O’Sullivan in early July.
