Galway choir, Claddagh Choral welcomes Lehigh Choral Arts Programme, who are visiting from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in an evening celebrating Irish and American choral music, taking place on Friday, May 26 in Galway Cathedral.
The Lehigh University Choral Arts programme has been led by director Steven Sametz for over 20 years and it has become one of the top choirs in the United States of America. The programme is composed of four ensembles: Lehigh University Choir, Lehigh University Glee Club, Dolce (a treble choir ), and The Choral Union (which includes students, faculty, staff and townspeople ). This event is part of the choral programme’s “On The Road” tour of Ireland.
Voice of Galway is a new choral ensemble led by Stephen Carroll. They debuted at Claddagh Choral’s previous concert in Salthill Church in March. Voice of Galway is an energetic choir whose repertoire includes fun, upbeat music, with an emphasis on community, inclusivity and diversity.
Galway City Youth Academy is comprised of three separate choirs - Galway City Children’s Choir Jnr., Galway City Children’s Choir Snr., and Galway City Youth Choir. All three choirs will perform on May 26.
In this concert presented by Claddagh Choral, Lehigh University Choir and Voice of Galway will perform a repertoire of Irish and American choral music.
