The tour features incredible panoramic views of Galway Bay, from the Marine Institute Headquarters in Rinville to the Shore Station in An Spidéal and takes the viewer on a remarkable sub-sea virtual experience of the Observatory itself.
Speaking about the event, Alan Berry, Manager of Marine Research Infrastructures, Marine Institute said they are very excited to welcome the community of An Spidéal to the SmartBay Family Fun Day 2023 and are looking forward to engaging with all guests on the importance of marine observations.
“The SmartBay Observatory is situated 1.5km off the coast of An Spidéal and is unique as Ireland’s only underwater cabled observatory, one of only three in Europe, providing access to continuous marine monitoring and observations 24/7,” he said.
