The Citroen C3 has been named as the 2023 World Urban Car by a jury of 100 international automotive journalists from 32 countries, including Ireland's Eddie Cunningham.
The award is part of the 'Road to World Car 2023' and the 'World Car Finals'.
The Citroen PSA Group has won three World Car Awards to date. Carlos Tavares, CEO of PSA Group, was the 2020 World Car Person of the Year while the Citroen C4 Cactus was the 2015 World Car Design of the Year winner. The Citroen C4 also won the design title in 2006. The Citroen C3 was a “Top Three in the World” finalist in the World Urban Car category in 2017.
The World Urban Car trophy was created by automotive designer Ian Callum’s design and engineering consultancy, Callum.
The criteria to win this award is fairly straightforward. To be eligible, a vehicle must be produced in volumes of at least 5,000 units/year and must be on-sale in at least two major markets on at least two separate continents within the period 1st January, 2022 and 30th March, 2023.
Vehicles must be a maximum of 4.25 metres in overall length and be approved for operation on public roads.
The Citroen C3 is on sale in Ireland from €21,970 and in 96 different colour combinations.
