Croí, the heart and stroke charity, is delighted to announce three in-person events throughout May in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon for those who have experienced a stroke or cardiac event.
The Croí Health Team are thrilled to be able to bring its Croí Connects events to communities across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon throughout the month of May. Croí has planned an engaging programme of talks and information stands at these three locations.
These events have been arranged to provide information and support to people who have experienced a cardiac or stroke event. The events will give members of the public the opportunity to hear from and interact with experts in the areas of heart and stroke support. The events will also enable people living with a heart or stroke condition to come together as a community and benefit from social supports and shared experiences.
If you are living with a stroke, cardiac condition or have had a cardiac event, this is a valuable opportunity to meet the Croí multidisciplinary health team for a free information evening, to ask questions, meet others with similar experiences and get the support and guidance you need to manage your condition as effectively as possible.
The events will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm each evening. The dates and locations are as follows:
Galway – May 11, in the Croí Heart & Stroke Centre, Galway City (H91 FF68 )
Roscommon – May 15, in The Abbey Hotel, Roscommon Town (F42 F992 )
Mayo – May 25, in the Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar (F23 R253 )
The Croí multidisciplinary health team, consisting of cardiac nurses, a health psychologist and a cardiac and weight management dietitian, will be in attendance at each event providing information on topics such as diet, exercise, heart health, stroke and the Croí Connects heart and stroke support services. There will be an informative talk each evening from members of the Croí Health Team covering the areas of support that Croí offer. The Croí Nursing Team will also be offering free blood pressure checks at each event.
Caroline Dermody, Croí’s Community Nurse Lead, says, “Effective management of risk factors, such as blood pressure, stress and cholesterol, can enable those who have experienced a stroke, cardiac event or live with a cardiac condition to lead a healthy and satisfying life”.
The events are free and registration is not necessary but Croí encourages people interested to fill out a short form prior to attending any of the events to help the team to assist attendees effectively. Tea and coffee will be provided at each of these events.
