Train Station invite you to get on board with Galway Simon Community for their ‘Dip a Day in May’ challenge. Jonny O’Brien and Ronan Kennedy, owners of the Train Station gym on Munster Avenue in the Westend, are committed to supporting their community. With the #dipadayinmay challenge, they are offering anyone who joins Team Train Station (www.dipadayinmay/iregister.ie ) and raises €100, a free circuit, spin or yoga class along with a free coffee from their new Wellness Garden.
Jonny shares his excitement for the upcoming challenge saying they can’t wait to ‘take the plunge’ on behalf of those at risk of homelessness in our community. “We recognise how important a strong community base is and the #dipadayinmay challenge for Galway Simon is a great way to get together in support of those less fortunate then ourselves.
“Not only is taking a dip a refreshing experience but it also has numerous physical and mental health benefits, making it a great opportunity to boost our overall wellbeing.”
Train Station have also recently launched their Wellness Garden where last year’s Dip a Day in May ambassador, Sinéad Mc Kiernan from Move and Breathe, brings her wealth of experience and knowledge in all things “wellness” to everyone.
“We’re so proud of this new space we’ve created. We have a state-of-the-art Sauna and Ice Plunge, which would definitely count as your Dip a Day! After taking the plunge you could revive yourself with a juice in our chill zone. Sinéad did amazing work last year as the Dip a Day in May ambassador for Galway Simon and she has inspired us to back this challenge.
“As Sinéad says, when we connect with our bodies, minds and hearts, we live a fuller, happier, more authentic life. We want to harness this positive energy and share it with our families, friends and the wider community. It’s brilliant that by being part of this Dip a Day in May challenge, we’ll be able to support people in our own communities who are at risk of homelessness,” Johnny added.
Galway Simon is passionately committed to preventing homelessness where possible, and believe that solutions are key to resolving this crisis. In 2022, Galway Simon Community supported 810 households, including 476 children. Over 90% of those who engaged with their Prevention Services over the past two years avoided entering Emergency Accommodation.
