15 Galway businesses and organizations have reached Gearrliosta Ghradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2023. The Gradam, Galway’s own bilingual business award is organised by Gaillimh le Gaeilge (the organisation that promotes the Irish language in Galway city ) in partnership with the Galway Advertiser, TG4 and the Galway Chamber.
In its 21st year, the Gradam celebrates and applauds all the bilingual work being done by businesses and organisations in Ireland’s Bilingual City.
The Moltóirí met on Monday morning for the first phase of the adjudication process. Gearóidín Hynes, Bainisteoir Tograí of Gaillimh le Gaeilge said that they were delighted with the quality of this year’s Gradam nominees, noting that those selected for this year’s Gearrliosta demonstrated a tremendous amount of energy, optimism and confidence in the Irish language.

Speaking about this year’s Gradam nominees, Cathaoirleach Ghaillimh le Gaeilge, Bernadette Mullarkey congratulated each of the finalists.
“Tá muid thar a bheith sásta i nGaillimh le Gaeilge leis an éagsúlacht gnólachtaí agus eagraíochtaí a bhaineann leas agus tairbhe as úsáid na Gaeilge. I am so encouraged to see the growing number of businesses and organisations, many of them owned by locals and others by people from other countries who have adopted Gaillimh as their new home and embrace an Ghaeilge with such enthusiasm and renewed vigour. The Irish language has a bright future here,” she said.
A number of meetings will be held by the Moltóirí in the coming weeks in order to determine the winners in each of the five categories. They will then select an overall winner from the five category winners. Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, Patrick O’Donovan TD, will announce the winners at a special awards ceremony at 6:00pm. in the Hardiman Hotel on Thursday May 25 2023.
