Corofin and Tuam in flying league form

After a solid league campaign for the county footballers, attention now turns to club action which continues this weekend.

Three rounds of leagues one to four have been played, with the competition to be completed in June before any championship football begins. Clubs will be without their senior intercounty players and also their U20 county players while they prepare for a Connacht final and maybe more.

In division one current champions Corofin and Tuam Stars have flown out the blocks with three wins from three and a very similar score difference. Last year’s finalists Annaghdown are bottom of division one with zero points, and are joined there by Milltown, who have also lost all three games to date.

Division two sees Bearna with a 100 per cent record with Oilean Arann and Salthill-Knocknacarra just behind on four points each. County champions Moycullen are joined at the bottom of division two by An Spideal, with neither side picking up points yet, but both with games in hand.

Division 3A sees Corofin’s intermediate team in similar form as their seniors, topping the group with three wins from three, and Glenamaddy and St James’ just behind with four points each. Oranmore-Maree and Headford prop up the group, but Oranmore have played only one game so far.

In division 3B Dunmore are continuing their fine form from 2022 with three wins on the spin, while Killererin and Clifden are currently propping up the group with zero points from three games
