On April 20 the GRETB FET Centre, Tuam Road, Galway is launching Education is Life: A Photographic Celebration which focuses on the incredible diversity of its students. The exhibition is shot by Galway-based photographer Anita Murphy, who creates photographic archives of everyday life.
The exhibition will feature a selection of large format photographic prints featuring adult learners from the centre. Photographs will be displayed on the outer railings for passing pedestrians and traffic to see, with a further selection of images featured in the corridors inside. Images will also be displayed on the centre’s social media. The Galway Bay FM Baycaster will be in attendance for a live broadcast. Education is Life will be launched in conjunction with the centre’s open day on Thursday April 20 and all are welcome to attend. The FET Centre is an adult and further education centre offering a vast array of courses, both part-time and full-time.
Ann McCormack, centre manager, said: "We feel the exhibition shines a light on the unique background, culture and perspectives of each of our learners and illustrates their human experiences as adult learners."
Education is Life coincides with the celebration of the ETB’s 10th anniversary, marking a decade in the provision of adult and further education in the Republic of Ireland.
