Galway Film Society this week hosted a reception at the closing film of its extremely successful spring 2023 season, whi0ch attracted unprecedented audiences filling Screen 1 at Pálás every Sunday night for the last eight weeks, with very strong attendance also on the repeat Monday evening screenings.

GFS, a beloved institution in the cultural landscape of Galway looks forward to celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024. In the interim, under the stewardship of its new committee, GFS’s reach and activities continue to go from strength to strength. To compliment its two existing seasons (Autumn/Winter and Spring ), GFS has launched GFS Summer Flicks.

GFS Chairperson, Louise Casey Conneally announced that GFS Summer Flicks will continue to screen GFS films at 8pm every Sunday night and 6.30pm on Mondays at Pálás, to ensure that Galway Film Society’s dedicated community of film fans will remain actively engaged, throughout the summer season.

GFS Summer Flicks will be offered at a reduced rate for GFS supporters (€8 instead of €12 ). GFS announced a series of further collaborations with the BANFF International Film Festival, the Japanese Film Festival, the European Short Shorts Festival, along with its commitment to showcase new emerging talent in its GFS Shorts Programme.
