Fancy a taste of Galway towns in the 1990s?

Loughrea-native photographer/videographer Aengus Devine worked and lived in London and the US for many years. On his trips home on holidays, he used his cameras to shoot insightful and beautiful videos of towns around the county.

The videos of each town are about an hour long and feature Loughrea, Portumna, Ballinasloe, Tuam, Athenry, Gort, Clifden, and also Ennis in Co Clare. They offer a great reminder of what life was like 30 years ago, showing the people of the towns going about their normal business.

Now we all have a chance to share in these memories as he is offering the chance to download these videos at €9.99 each

“Sadly some of the people featured have now left us but these are a real treasure of memories for old and young alike,” he said.

“They show the streets, the shops, the pubs as they all looked back then. The school children who are all now grown up and are now adults with their own families themselves.

“This is a ‘must have’ account of our lives back then. It will make a beautiful gift to anyone living abroad as well as those still living in these great towns,” he said.
