Shannon Dance Academy is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this year and to mark this milestone moment will perform ‘Dance Extravaganza’, an unmissable evening of dance at the Dean Crowe Theatre, on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.
With an eclectic mix of classical ballet, lyrical dance, jazz and contemporary, the show is complete with live entertainment to suit all tastes. From adorable tiny ballerinas to very talented teenagers, these performances showcase the students wonderful dance skills.
This magical evening includes excerpts from Swan Lake and Skater’s Waltz, showcasing the young dancers classical ballet techniques, the musicals Hamilton, Cats and School of Rock, showing their energy and versatility and much much more.
In 20 years Shannon Dance Academy has delivered the highest standard of dance to its students, enriching the lives of all its dancers over the years and instilling a lifelong love of the arts.
Under the guidance of principal, Judith Sibley, one of Ireland’s most esteemed dance artists, former students have progressed to top dance colleges in the UK and Europe. However, the majority of students dance for the joy and happiness it brings them and bring their skills onto dance societies and musicals in university and beyond.
The life skills that training in ballet benefits young people is evident in the amount of our former students who’ve gained incredible results in the leaving certificate, some of the highest in the country, while continuing to dance several times a week.
Many of Academy’s dancers have become members of Youth Ballet West in Galway where they have performed to 100,000 people at the Macnas Parades and The Bram Stoker Festivals, participated in Festivals and Gala’s across Ireland, work with exceptional choreographers, gain a huge amount of performance skills and hone their craft to be the best that they can be, bringing with them a lifetime of happy memories.
