HID launches employee resource group for its female workers

Global company HID which has a Galway-based Centre of Excellence announced yesterday (International Women’s Day ) that it is to launch an Employee Resource Group for its female employees.

The new initiative will aim to build an inclusive community for women to discuss and create awareness around the issues they face in the workplace.

Speaking at the event, Joan Kennedy, Global Senior HR Director, HID said it was great to have so many wonderful women gathered in its Centre of Excellence to hear from inspirational speakers such as Nina Carberry and Network Galway president Suzanne Ryan.

“As well as hosting the event, we launched a dedicated employee resource group for women, called the Women’s Initiative Network.

“The goal of this new initiative is to build an inclusive community for women to discuss and create awareness around the issues they face in the workplace and help colleagues who work with women become better equipped to support them.”

Ms Kennedy told the Advertiser that having a dedicated Employee Resource Group for Women can help all companies create an inclusive space for women to share knowledge, learn, and empower each other.

“An Employee Resource Group is a voluntary, employee-led group whose aim is to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace. Employees can register to be part of these regular meetings and bring key topics of interest to the agenda,” she said.

HID yesterday hosted the International Women’s Day breakfast event with horse racing great, Nina Carberry, and presented by RTÉ 2fm DJ, Laura Fox, to celebrate its female employees and launch its Employee Resource Group for women.

The initiative was welcomed by guest speaker Nina Carberry who said it was great to have the opportunity to speak to HID’s employees and to see a company putting words into action with regards to diversity and inclusion.

“It is important that events on International Women’s Day such as this one shine a light on the positive work being done by businesses such as HID, but also use it as a platform to launch additional support initiatives. There is a lot being done but we can always strive for more,” she added.

Suzanne Ryan, President, Network Ireland Galway said it is thrilled to work in collaboration with HID on this excellent International Women’s Day event with Nina Carberry.

“Network Ireland is all about empowering women to be their absolute best through the pillars of leadership, collaboration, and support. As women, we rightly celebrate our place in business and society by coming together as one connected voice to ensure equity and fair representation across all areas of our lives. We acknowledge and think of those strong women that have gone on and paved this path before us,” she added.
