FCL Galway is offering Junior Certificate maths classes on a one-to-one basis and there are a few limited places remaining. The classes are delivered online, but Frank Murphy will meet the students and parents in person initially to explain exactly how the classes are formatted and how they can gain maximum benefit from the tuition.
Many students in the early months of secondary school really struggle with the pace and content of maths class. They may have found maths in primary school manageable, but all of a sudden, things have really picked up and they are onto a new topic without having fully grasped the last one. In larger classes and in unfamiliar surroundings they are often reluctant to ask for clarification. The maths course is so extensive that as the teachers push on, students often get left behind.
At FCL Galway dozens of students have got to grips with the maths course by the expert tuition which Frank Murphy offers. Students are tutored on an individual basis with initial and ongoing assessments. Problem areas are targeted and because students are tutored individually, they feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to highlight specific difficulties they may be having. The initial focus of the tuition will involve clarifying and strengthening skills in algebra which are fundamental to the whole course. Students are given homework to do each week and help is always at hand via email and WhatsApp. In third year, there is a lot of emphasis on doing past exam papers.
