Family owned and run meat packaging and distributor, Johnny the Butcher, utilises over 40 years of butchering experience and a desire to bring only the best to its customers.
The founder of Johnny the Butcher is John Connelly a butcher by trade who began his career in 1981 in Loughrea. Inspired by a constant supply of new products and a desire to set up on his own, Johnny the Butcher was born.
A business that has family at its core, Johnny the Butcher is a hands-on affair for John and his wife Liz as well as a number of relatives who make sure to maintain the high standards the business is known for.
"The support we get from family has been key with running the business. It has helped to keep us strong during difficult times, but to have each other to rely on is really great and it helps to keep the business growing."
For John, the core tenets of the business are based on three things.
"It's based on the experience I have, the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes and that my heart is really in it, you can tell in the presentation of our products."
Based in Loughrea, Johnny the Butcher supplies a total of six products to Galway based Tesco stores including, bacon joints, bacon chops and spare ribs and is one of the only suppliers in the region providing boneless roast turkeys, available either stuffed or plain. All turkeys are female, which are more tender and flavourful than a male turkey.
Why not try it for yourself? Johnny the Butcher products are available in Tesco stores across the county.
